Overall Thoughts . . . (:

• The topics I chose for the CRPs' actually helped me in my French class and outside school. Not only was I able to have fun in creating the projects, but I was also able to learn more about the French culture as a whole. I chose the ones that I found interesting and in my opinion they were some of the best ones in the list. I chose learning about a Francophone singer only because I love listening to music so it was nice listening to new kinds of styles, I chose creating "Miniature France" because I actually enjoying doing hands-on activities, and I also chose learning about the holidays because it teaches me the different type of ways people celebrate.
• By doing the CRPs' the whole year, I gained knowledge and more interest towards France. Learning about the monuments, holidays, music, and even the restaurants gave me a dream to one day plan my own trip to France and get to experience it on my own. :)

CRP #6 (:

• For the last CRP, the only category that I had left was going ON-LINE. I chose to email Jessica and have a French conversation through Facebook.
• Having a conversation meant going back to the very first lessons we learned in class. The notes were knowing how to say hello (bonjour), bye (au revoir), how are you? (ca va?), and even saying your name (je m'appelle..). Everything I had learned in starting a conversation had come back and it was good to refresh back my memory.
• Having an online conversation was relevant because it is something any teenager could do because almost everyone has an online website in which they can chat in. Not only were you able to have a conversation, but you were also able to practice your French and go over the notes that had been taught at the beginning of the first semester. It is a good way to refresh back your memory. :)

CRP #5 (:

Copy of my CRP: Mardi Gras. :)

• For the fifth CRP, I decided to do an informational brochure on a holiday. The holiday I chose was Mardi Gras, not knowing it was celebrated in France as well.
• While doing research on the holiday, I learned that Mardi Gras actually is a French word and it got its name from Fat Tuesday in which the French were parading an ox in Paris which reminded the people that they weren't allowed to eat meat since the holiday took place on Ash Wednesday. I also learned that for entertaining, people carry baskets of oranges that are thrown to the crowds who are watching the parades.
• Writing an informational brochure is relevant because it actually informs people of the holidays they have in different parts of the world. You also get to learn more about the French culture and what French people celebrate and do to entertain each other.

CRP #4 (:

• For the fourth CRP, I chose to read a children's book written in French. I decided to go online into the "International Children's Library" website and came across an interesting book that actually catched my attention. The book I read was called Finbo.
• When I read the book, I learned that it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Predicting it WAS a children's book, I still remember how I couldn't even pronounce the first word. As I continued reading, I began to notice words that were common in the lessons we have learned like when they introduce themselves and add adjectives to the sentences. One of my favorite line from the book was "Finbo, chacun d'entre nous devrait etre heureux de ce qu'il est et de ce qu'il a. Tu verras, un jour, etre toi-meme t'apportera quelque chose...dit sa mere la baleine bleue." Translated it means: "Finbo,everyone should be happy about who he is and what he has. You'll see one day, what would it bring you, being you you are...said mother blue whale."
• Reading a children's book in French was relevant because you are actually able to learn more French words and come across words you already should know. If you continue reading French books, it also will help you to become a fluent reader when it comes to talking French.

CRP #3 (:

• Since I'm a very big fan of music, for my third CRP, I decided to search up a Francophone singer. I came across Dalida, she is a famous singer and actress born in Egypt with Italian origins but was mainly raised in France.
• By doing this category, I learned the different variations France has in music just like Americans do. While learning about Dalida, I found out that her father, Pietro Gigliotti, was one of the first violinist at the Cairo Opera House. I also learned that through out her career of singing, she earned fifty-five gold records and was one of the first female artists to earn a diamond disc. When hearing her music, I figured that most of the tones, usually are calm and have small melodies.
• Learning about a Francophone singer is relevant because then people who love music actually get to listen to many variety of music not only in America but across the country. You also get to learn about the type of beats and melodies most of the singers use AND by listening you can actually get to capture some of the words we've learned in class. (:

CRP # 2 (:

• For the second CRP, I chose to create "Small France" with Emmanuel. It was one of my favorite CRP's because I had the opportunity to actually have both of our parents come in to help us and they as well were able to pitch in and learn about the French culture. Not only did we build miniature monuments important to the French culture but learn more about its' importance. Some of the monuments we created were the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Glass Pyramid, the Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame.
• While completing this project, I was able to learn more about the architecture the monuments in France has. Every building had its' story and how France became to be what it is now. The Louvre holds the famous painting of Leonardo da Vinci, Mona Lisa. The Arc de Triomphe is where many names of soldiers are carved in and it is where Hitler passed with his German soldiers. Finally, I learned that the Eiffel Tower is actually the symbol that represents Paris, France and it has one of the best views from the whole city.
• This project was relevant because I was actually able to learn more about the French culture and the structure of the buildings. By visualizing the pictures and the facts that every monument had, it gave me motivation to actually plan a trip to Paris, France sometime in my future. :)

CRP #1 (:

• For the first CRP, I chose to do the easiest one on the list. I decided to go to a Francophone restaurant located at the Fox Hills Mall with Emmanuel. The name of the restaurant is called Creme de la Crepe. I chose to order a dessert called Daph', I do not regret ordering that dish. :)
• While my visit at the restaurant, I learned the variety of foods French people have. I have to admit that when I first saw the menu I was puzzled on what to choose. The Francophone restaurant had a very cultural style with French music playing in the background and stacks of wine in the wall used not only to drink but for decoration. I learned that France is very famous for their luxury wine.
• Going to a Francophone restaurant was relevant because many people are able to grab a taste from the French culture with the delicious foods they offer. As soon as you step foot into the restaurant, you get attached to the catchy songs Franophone artists make. It was basically an experience in which France seemed to have paid Los Angeles a small visit. :)
